Why Marrakech
Why Marrakech
The ochre city, the spellbinder
Marrakech is one of Morocco's four imperial cities. Founded in the 11th century by the Almoravids, it has crossed the centuries while keeping its beating heart: the medina, UNESCO-listed since 1985.
Côté Kech is born from the urge to share the city we live in every day: golden light on pisé walls, the call to prayer echoing across the rooftops, the scent of spices in the souk alleys.
What gives it its soul
A living medina
2.5 km² of alleys, over 200,000 inhabitants, souks organised by trade (leather, rugs, spices, copper), forgotten palaces. You get lost, you find yourself, you come back.
A singular architecture
The riad — a traditional home built around a central courtyard — is the architectural soul of Marrakech. Tadelakt walls, hand-cut zellige, carved cedar ceilings.
A gateway to the South
At the foot of the High Atlas, Marrakech is also a starting point for the Ourika Valley, the Agafay desert, Essaouira.
March-May and September-November
The best seasons: mild temperatures, gardens in bloom in spring, autumn light. But Marrakech is also stunning in winter and summer, each in its own way.
What we love most
Yves Saint Laurent Museum, Majorelle Garden, Photography Museum, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Medersa. The city is constantly reinventing itself, between heritage and contemporary creation.
